A little history
Florence Street Mission Hall was built at the beginning of the last century, by Mr Daniel Skinner as a Christian witness in the area.
There have been some structural additions, and quite a lot of modernization has been done over the years, but the message of God’s love and His salvation is still the same.
In 2003 we celebrated our centenary when we had an exhibition and special services for a week. It is interesting that there are grandchildren, great grandchildren and great great grandchildren still worshipping at Florence Street Mission Hall.
What we believe
We are a group of Christians and our beliefs are all based upon the Bible, which we believe to be the inspired Word of God. We do not belong to any organisation or denomination and we simply call ourselves Christians.
We believe that God offers salvation from sin to each one of us through faith in the Lord Jesus Christ, who died so that we can know forgiveness. Although His death and resurrection occurred many years ago, we believe the message He brought of eternal life, is still able to change lives and prepare us for Heaven.
The Bible teaches us that we all need to be right with God is to accept His Son, the Lord Jesus Christ, as our personal Saviour.
“For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life. For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but to save the world through him. Whoever believes in him is not condemned, but whoever does not believe stands condemned already because they have not believed in the name of God’s one and only Son.”
John 3:16–18 NIV
